Fatal illness during snorkeling in Marsa Alam
An experienced athlete and enthusiast of physical activities, De Marchi had dived to observe the seabed when he suddenly stopped resurfacing. Despite prompt assistance, all resuscitation attempts were fruitless. His wife, who witnessed the incident, lived through those dramatic moments alone, far from their hometown.
Awaiting the return of the body to Italy
De Marchi’s body is still in Egypt, awaiting repatriation pending the completion of bureaucratic procedures managed by the Italian embassy in Cairo. Only after the release of official documents will it be possible to organize the funeral ceremony in Pordenone.
