MUGGIA – Immacolata Concert 2024 at Teatro Verdi in Muggia: an extraordinary musical program with the Chamber Orchestra of Friuli Venezia Giulia, conducted by Maestro Romolo Gessi, offering a fascinating journey through baroque masterpieces and romantic suggestions. The concert, scheduled for the afternoon of December 8th at 5:30 PM, promises to be one of the most anticipated events of the Christmas season, with free admission and a voluntary donation.
The musical program will begin with two compositions by Antonio Vivaldi: the Concerto in G major for strings and basso continuo RV 151 “Alla rustica”, followed by the Concerto in C major for mandolin, strings and basso continuo RV 425, entrusted to the virtuosity of mandolinist Annalisa Desiata. Desiata, a highly prestigious soloist and winner of numerous international competitions, will also perform in the Concerto in D major for mandolin, strings and basso continuo RV 93, always accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of FVG.
A moment of great emotion will be the tribute to Cesare Barison, on the 50th anniversary of his death, with his arrangement for string orchestra of the famous Adagio Cantabile by Giuseppe Tartini. The concert will then continue with a selection of romantic music, ranging from the poignant Elegiac Melodies op.34 by Edvard Grieg to the brilliant Symphony for Strings No.10 in B minor by Felix Mendelssohn, to joyfully welcome the beginning of the Christmas festivities.
Romolo Gessi, musical director of the Orchestra, is known for his extensive career, having conducted numerous prestigious ensembles in Europe and America. Annalisa Desiata, in addition to her solo career, is also a mandolin teacher at the Conservatory of Bologna and one of the leading exponents of the mandolin repertoire, known for her ability to merge tradition and innovation.
The concert, supported by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Kathleen Foreman Casali Charitable Foundation, is promoted by the Muggia Municipality in collaboration with the Aurora Ensemble Music Association, Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Trieste, and other cultural entities in the area. The event is part of the Christmas celebrations, contributing to the enhancement of music and the tradition of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
