Violent clash in Udine: teenager stabs homeless man
UDINE – Tension flared today in Udine in Piazzale Osoppo, when a teenager, after a heated argument with his mother, stabbed a homeless man who was trying to defuse the situation.
The incident took place around 1:15 PM outside the Despar supermarket, located in the busy Galleria Alpi. A young homeless man, usually present near the entrance asking for some change, fell victim to an attack.
The argument between mother and son escalates into violence
The mother of the minor, accompanied by another person, had gone to the square after being informed of her son’s presence, who had been away from home for days. The attempt to dialogue between the two quickly turned into a heated confrontation.
Seeing the tension rise, the homeless man decided to intervene. He approached the three with the intention of calming the situation and stopping the boy from further impulsive actions. But his goodwill was repaid with a sudden blow: the young man struck him with a small knife in the hip area.
Rapid assistance and police intervention
The homeless man managed to reach the inside of the supermarket, where he was assisted by the employees and some customers of the nearby bar. The emergency services then transported him in code green to the emergency room of the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital.
Meanwhile, several police patrols arrived on the scene. The officers reconstructed the incident, restored calm, and accompanied the boy to the police station, where he was reported.
Investigations are now underway to clarify the details and assess any responsibilities.
Collective memory recalls the 2023 episode
The assault also shocked those present due to its geographical location. Piazzale Osoppo had already been the scene in 2023 of the murder of Luca Tisi, another homeless man.
In this case, fortunately, the injured homeless man is not in a life-threatening condition, although he sustained a deep wound.
